Beautiful walks from the door include scenic Castleshaw valley, where the site of a Roman Fort ruin is to be found, and above which the Pennine Way traverses the ridge with views all around.

The Millgate Arts Centre in Delph is a theatre which stages, periodically, plays and chamber concerts, pantomines and also films, according to schedule.

Dovestones Reservoir offer a scenic circular walk as does Hollingworth Lake, all suitable for prams and are both just a short drive away.

Canals featuring several working locks and the entrance, in Diggle, to the longest, highest, deepest canal in England. Where the tunnel emerges at Marsden, there is a visitor centre offering boat trips inside the tunnel. Canal barge trips can also be found in Uppermill.

Saddleworth Museum in Uppermill for history buffs, with maps and information sheets on local interest and walks are on sale.

Holmfirth, 'Last of the Summer Wine' country is a 30 minute drive away with its vineyard nearby,  and lots of cafes and shops in the village centre. You will recognise many of these from the TV series.

Whit Friday sees the annual brass band contest, each village hosting a contest. Here you will hear Black Dyke, Brighouse and Rastrick bands to name just two of the world famous bands taking part.

Yorkshire day is celebrated on 1st August, near the Museum,  next to the statue of the celebrated local poet and author Ammon Wrigley.

What People Say

Martin, Leicester - May 2021

The cottage was very clean and perfectly fits the description. We found everything we needed and the local pubs are a short stroll away and the food is amazing. The cottage is set in a quiet location, which made for nice evenings on the patio, as our children played in the spacious grounds, The host asked if we had everything we needed but was also mindful of our privacy. We will be booking again.

Archie, Airbnb - April 2021

Amazing host, stunning space, beautiful location, what more could you ask for!

Mike - May 2021

Hidden gem. Beautiful place to be. Great walks, shop and pub 10 minutes walk. Normally in the lakes this time of the year, but this place takes some beating.
